HOGYAN ADOMÁNYOZHAT? /HOW TO DONATE?

HOW TO DONATE?

Who are the people we aim to assist?

  • These are people and families who were managing their lives until they suddenly found themselves in a difficult situation due to an unexpected event. If these families receive the assistance they need promptly, they stand a good chance of preventing a slide into a more desperate situation, which very often results from problems piling up on each other, for example, the accumulation of debts.

  • People and families who are in a precarious situation but are doing everything within their means to overcome their problems often only need one-time assistance to succeed. This can be as simple as help to purchase a monthly bus pass that would enable them to start working, or one-time financial assistance to renovate their social housing.

  • For people and families in extreme poverty, a targeted assistance package can result in considerable improvement to their quality of life, though it may not solve their fundamental problems. Examples of assistance packages we have provided are the installation of a toilet, purchase of food and firewood, donation of a washing machine, or refrigerator.

  • We sometimes provide various forms of project-type assistance such as the distribution of books to small poor libraries, or construction of a playground for a nursery school.

How do we operate?

On the first Friday of every month we hold a regular meeting for our volunteer activists. This is when we decide which particular families from the list of new prospective families we will visit. Working in pairs, our volunteers visits the families and learn about their overall situation and most urgent problems, so we can devise the best way to help them. Establishing personal contacts with families is key to our success in delivering targeted, custom-made assistance to them.

As a rule, we assist a family once a year, though exceptions are made in special circumstances.

We work in partnership with government-operated family support centers. These centers are familiar with some of these families, and will continue to support them. This is of benefit both ways as we can offer flexible support that assists their own work in supporting the families they serve.

We make every effort to comply with the requests and concrete ideas of all of our Supporters. If, for example, someone wants their donation to go to a particular family, we try to accommodate that wish to the extent possible. All monetary contributions are used to directly benefit families. All donors receive information as to how their contribution was used, and have their names published on our webpage (www.eranus.hu) under the heading ‘Our Accomplishments’, though any donor can request to remain anonymous.

What families need

Dear Eranus Supporters and well-wishers!

In the next, “KINEK SEGÍTEHET?” menu item one can always read the current requests for assistance. Foundation volunteers have always personally visited the families seeking help, and the visit of the case accurate descriptions.

The website published case reports of persons not under their own name.

Unfortunately, we have not enough capacity to translate these cases into English every month.

Donations of furniture, household utensils and other equipment is appreciated because many families we support are moving out of temporary shelters and have nothing. They live at or below the subsistence level, and are often provided shelter in homes without any furniture.

Because we are lacking sufficient storage space, where it is possible, we would ask that the donor hold on to the items until we find the most suitable family for them. If no temporary storage is available, we will find a temporary solution.

For donors of household goods, please provide us with information regarding the physical dimensions of the goods, or even a photograph because our target families typically live in very small flats.

Please note that donated goods should be in working order and reasonably clean.

To donate please contact: eranus.info@gmail.com

Despite all of our associates working as voluntareers, and regardless of the large number of useful articles donated, very often we cannot assist families without monetary contributions. We cannot transport the larger pieces of furniture and household equipment free of charge. In addition, there are many problems that require monetary donations (for example, assistance in paying rent, purchasing medicine, installation of a card-operated electricity meter, the purchase of food). For this reason, monetary donations are much appreciated!!!!
